Yes, September 27th is Moskowitz Day in BirthdayLand
Published on September 26, 2006 By Buddah Moskowitz In Poetry
the clock is ticking
and days are escaping
and any time we’ve saved
is already gone

don’t waste your breath bargaining
God’s heard it all before
and ask not for whom
the box in the ground waits
it waits for thee

so take off your shoes
and feel the cold wet grass
tickling between your toes
turn up the music
and dance ‘til you’re done
and seek out the face that
is still comforting after all these years
and tell it how you feel

when I was a kid I loved
Disneyland, pretty melodies
birthday cake, the Marx Brothers
and books
and I love them all still

there are fewer days ahead
than behind me
and one of these days
will be my last

every sunset is a miracle
every ache is a reminder
every prayer is gratitude

and if I get cake
for my birthday tomorrow
I’ll savor it

and if not
I’ll take what I can get
and wring every drop I can
from it

I haven’t the time
for anything else

I'm printing this to keep.

September 27th is my anniversary, too.
